DD Coordinator Report - Sandra Butts turned over to
Maureen Conaty to report.
- Crisis Respite Home opened. Goal is to extend
continuum of crisis options for people who are DD, MI or dually
diagnosed. The home is not accessible. It is also not intended for
people whose caregiver has suddenly died. People with severe
aggression/property damage would not be appropriate for the home. Maureen
gave information regarding the intake process when someone is brought to
MCMHC. She then explained the process of the intake at the Crisis Respite
Home. A referral must be called into Maureen first through 289-5240 or
mconaty@milwcnty.com. It is on 57th and Silver Spring and
they are currently starting with two beds.
- New Psychiatrist- Dr. Justin Kuehl. Call Maureen first
for appt with him. He will come out to homes to assess, consult and train
staff.

Milwaukee Training Initiative - Kate Wilson
- Putting 2007 Calendar together
- Next year possible topics; Executive Breakfast, Caring
for someone with diabetes, Behavioral Signs of a Medical Conditions,
Medical Fragility, Augmentative Communications, Mental Health Issues. The
dates have not yet been set.
SE WI Training Group - Martha DeGraw
- 2007 schedule tentatively set. There are going to be
six trainings that promote healthy lifestyles. Topics will include;
Behavior Issues, Aging Issues, Sexuality, Ethics, and Autism. Areas
trainings located will be Port Washington, Elkhorn, and Racine/Kenosha.
All welcome to trainings. New members are also always welcome to the
meetings. Meeting dates are on the MADDSA website.
Transition Committee- Hope Lloyd
- Hope discussed upcoming Open House/Trainings to six or
seven school districts to go and visit different agencies of interest to
learn about programs.
- MCTAB meets on the 2nd Tuesday of the month
at 1pm at UCP. If interested contact Hope Lloyd at 329-4500.
Transit Committee - Cheri Bruch not present.
- Next meeting on Jan. 11th 9:30am UCP.
Health Disparities - Reported by Martha DeGraw
- New website can be accessed through the Southern Wisconsin Center website, http://dhfs.wisconsin.gov/dd_swc/ .
- Health Log will be posted on website for people to
access.
- Oral Health Subcommittee- Received first report
on survey at dental school. There were 1200 Responses. Most dentists see
people with Developmental Disabilities which is hopeful because it keeps the
doors open. However, they did all note that they need more information on
how to handle behaviors. The downside is that most of the dentists are
older and will be retiring. Two agencies were visited by tech schools to
do initial assessments on participants in the day programs. The feedback
was very good. They stated it was positive, and appreciated the
experience of Kate Wilson and Nancy Pickett.
PCW Report - Lois Degner
- Trying to coordinate Legislative Breakfast
- Looking to develop a member manual or a training tool
of what PCW is.
- Next PCW meeting is January 9th at 9am at
ARC Milwaukee.
Other business -
- Revisited mission statement- There were a few members
that were part of past MADDSA and will bring in some other materials
regarding bi-laws.
- Discussion of possible subcommittee to look at
recreating if nothing found.
- Communication - There will be letters sent out
informing that we will be moving to email communication of agenda rather
then land mailing.
- Administrative Support - None.
- Meetings Scheduled - Accepted.
- Future Speakers - Kathleen Luedke on Jan 11. She is
from State of Wisconsin Department of Health and Family Services. She
will discuss LTC redesign.
